Program Overview

01.

Foundation Course

The Lab Junior now takes your child on a genuine AI-powered coding journey. A half-year Foundation term (2 x 10-week terms) eases students into The Lab’s rigorous Core curriculum (5 x 10-week terms), progressively building Computational Thinking, AI Literacy and the Engineering Design Process. By Core Term 5 — Computer Science & AI — students apply everything they’ve learned to build and train their own AI-powered robot, discovering firsthand how machines learn to sense, decide and respond. The curriculum builds on the MOE Primary 4 Math syllabus throughout.

02.

Fun Over Learning

The cornerstone of the program is Fun Over Learning. The curriculum is [designed to be fun and interactive] so your child’s interest in technology is fully piqued — interest is what drives kids to want to learn more. The Junior program uses LEGO Robotics, giving students hands-on, experiential learning as they build. LEGO® SPIKE, replacing the legacy LEGO Mindstorms, is a highly popular programmable robot kit — now capable of AI-powered behaviours — used in several national and worldwide-renowned robotics competitions.

03.

Build DSA Portfolios

The curriculum spans a Foundation term plus 5 Core terms (10 lessons each). At the end of every term — including the Core Term 5 AI project — your child prepares for a presentation, building [confidence and public speaking skills. Presenting a self-trained AI robot is a standout addition to their portfolio, strengthening their profile for Direct School Admission (DSA] and other future interviews.
