What Is Robotics for Kids?

Robotics for kids is a hands-on way of learning STEAM — science, technology, engineering, arts and maths — by building real, physical machines and teaching them to move, sense and respond. At The Lab, children don't just assemble a robot and watch it go: they build it, program it, test it, and improve it, following the same design process used by real engineers. It's the same computational thinking behind coding, expressed through something a child can hold, break, fix and rebuild.

Robotics Meets Artificial Intelligence

Robotics at The Lab doesn't stop at motors and sensors — students progress from following instructions to building machines that think for themselves.

Traditional Robotics

Sensors detect the environment, motors move the robot, and the robot follows instructions programmed in ahead of time.

AI Robotics

The machine learns to interpret information itself — recognising patterns and deciding how to respond, rather than just following a fixed script.

A concrete example: in the Junior programme, students build and train their own AI-powered robot — a hands-on first encounter with how intelligent systems actually work, years before most children touch the concept.
