The Lab Students Achieve Outstanding Results at Coding Olympics 2026
Two The Lab students have achieved Top 20 placements in Category B at Coding Olympics 2026, showcasing their coding skills, computational thinking and problem-solving abilities on an international stage.
We are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of our students at Coding Olympics 2026, an international coding competition that challenges young students to apply their programming knowledge, logical thinking and problem-solving skills to solve coding challenges.
This year, two students from The Lab Singapore — Jade Tay and Woo Yi Jie — placed in the Top 20 in Category B, making it a fantastic achievement for both our students and our coding programme.
What Is Coding Olympics 2026?
Coding Olympics is a coding competition designed to encourage young learners to develop their programming and computational thinking skills through challenging coding problems.
Rather than simply testing whether students can remember programming commands, coding competitions such as Coding Olympics require participants to understand problems, think logically, develop solutions and apply their coding knowledge under competition conditions.
Coding Olympics 2026 features different categories based on students’ age and school level. Category B is designed for Primary 5–6 students, approximately ages 11–12, giving young coders the opportunity to challenge themselves against other talented students from across the region.
For students, competitions like these provide a valuable opportunity to take the skills they learn in their regular coding classes and apply them to unfamiliar problems.
Our Coding Olympics 2026 Winners
We are especially proud of our two students who achieved Top 20 placements in Category B this year.
🏆 Category B — Jade Tay
Jade has been part of The Lab since 2022, beginning her journey with our Lab Junior Programme before progressing through our programmes all the way to the Lab X Unity Game Development Programme.
Along the way, Jade also completed our Elite Programme Advanced Level and has represented The Lab in several competitions, including the National Robotics Competition (NRC) and NCRC.
Her achievement at Coding Olympics 2026 reflects years of consistent learning, practice and participation in challenging projects and competitions.
We are incredibly proud of Jade’s growth, dedication and willingness to take on new challenges.
🏆 Category B — Woo Yi Jie
Yi Jie joined The Lab in June 2022, starting with our Lab Junior Programme and progressing through our coding curriculum to the Lab Coder Advanced Level.
Over the years, Yi Jie has represented The Lab in multiple competitions, including the National Robotics Competition (NRC) and RoboCup, competing on both international and global stages.
His Top 20 placement in Category B at Coding Olympics 2026 is another fantastic milestone in his coding journey.
His commitment, perseverance and passion for coding have truly paid off.
Two Top 20 Students from The Lab
Having two students from The Lab place in the Top 20 of Category B is a wonderful achievement and reflects the importance of developing coding skills progressively over time.
Both Jade and Yi Jie have been with The Lab for several years, progressing through our programmes and taking part in increasingly challenging coding and technology projects.
Their journeys are also a great example of how consistent coding education can help children develop beyond simply learning how to write code.
From Coding Classes to Competition Challenges
At The Lab, we believe that learning to code is about much more than learning programming commands.
Our goal is to help children develop the ability to:

Jade and Yi Jie’s achievements demonstrate what can happen when students are given the opportunity to develop their skills consistently over time.
At The Lab Singapore, our coding programmes for kids are designed to progressively develop students from foundational programming concepts to more advanced coding and problem-solving skills.
Students can start by learning the fundamentals of computational thinking and programming before progressing into more advanced coding projects and challenges.

Our students have represented The Lab in competitions locally and internationally, gaining experience not only in coding but also in teamwork, presentation, problem-solving and working under pressure.
Why Coding Competitions Matter
A coding competition is not simply about winning.
For children, the experience of preparing for and participating in a coding competition can help them develop resilience, confidence and independent problem-solving skills.
They learn that their first solution may not always work. They learn to identify mistakes, try another approach and keep going when a problem is difficult.
These are valuable skills for the future — particularly in a world where technology, coding and artificial intelligence are becoming increasingly important.
We are therefore incredibly proud whenever our students step outside their comfort zones and challenge themselves.
